The Effect of Flood in Barangay Sanghay

Floods are the most frequent type of disaster and occur when an overflow of water submerges land that is usually dry.

Floods are often ca used by heavy rainfall,rapid snowmelt or storm surge from a tropical cyclone or tsunami in coastal areas.And this are some effects of floods in our environment,soil and bank erosion,bed erosion,siltation or landslides.

When the floodwaters spread it can threaten lives,inundate propentries and businesses,destroy belongings,damage vital in fracture and prevent access to essential public services and one of the areas suffer from this disaster is our barangay,barangay Sanghay.It is located in Mati City,Davao Oriental.This area is surrounded by the sea and rivers in different parts of the place.

Frequent flooding is not new to the people who lives here,because ofor frequent rains.But still the residents here are still worried, because everytime the strong  rain falls, the water level rises that can caused overflow of water and it reaches to the households near the river.The residents are worried of the danger that will happened if the rain will continue to fall.And this is one of the biggest problem of our barangay as of now.They are finding the best way to prevent and control this kind of disaster,and it's hard for them to resolve it.But now,the barangay official,lead by our barangay captain Mr.Diosdado G. Pahid,are planning for the relocation of the residents of barangay Sanghay who live in the prone areas,especially to those people who live near the river or in the riverside .
